Description
Erik stands 6'3" and weighs 195 lbs, with an athletic build. He has red hair streaked with blond (or perhaps the other way around), worn short and spikey, fair skin, bright blue eyes, and facial hair that varies from week to week. He has several tattoos, including a large tattoo of a viking dragon down his left arm. More importantly, he has a pair of twin serpant tatoos, which he designed with Juanita's help. They give him several magical abilities...and her a measure of control over him. He also wears an earing, a small silver hoop.
Erik dresses in a sort of gothic grunge. Sometimes wears a black leather jacket, more usually, he wears a ratty pull-over sweater and olive green pants, instead. He cherishes his Norse hammer necklace, purchased at a pagan festival. He wears sandals, high-tops, or black combat boots, depending on the weather.
My So-Called Life
Erik is kind of even tempered and unflappable, with a wealth of assorted interests. He loves spooky stuff, including esoterica and occultism. He's very athletic, but his interests lie in non-traditional sports, such as rock climbing and snowboarding. He's not competitive in traditional sports, however, even though he's been actively recruited by Solomon High's rowing and swim coaches. His main interest, though, is art, specifically art that involves fantasy, horror, or medieval themes.
Erik's grandfather would like nothing more than for Erik to clean up his ways and follow in his footsteps into public service. Erik is, after all, an excellent student. But Erik wants none of that. He has real artistic talent and, while he respects his grandfather, he wants no part of his conservative way of life. His real family hero is his great-grandfather. If art doesn't pan out, he'd like to study archaeology at Martense.
When We Were Kids
Erik has always spent a lot of time on the road with his parents, particularly in the summers.
Family
The Sorensen family emigrated to the U.S. early in the century. Erik's great-grandfather Mangus made a name for himself as a professor of archaeology at Martense while researching Viking settlements in North America. His grandfather Thomas left Solomon to study law but eventually returned to run for office. He is now the Solomon district's Republican representative in Congress.
Erik's father, Lars, was a bit of a rebel and spent most of the late 60's and early 70's as a neo-pagan hippie. During that time, he met Sabrina Harrington and they eventually settled down once Erik was born. They are still regulars on the Renaissance festival circuit, where Erik learned his medieval combat and period craft skills. When not on the road, they are community activists and run a local whole-food store and yoga studio. Erik is their only child. His grandfather still supports the family, to some degree, although relations are very strained.
