Joshua: I don't know. I don't see Graham as much of a party guy.

Graham's take on his life in Solomon: "Life is such a drag. Here I am, just hitting the age when I can start playing Ugly American full time with the local hotties - they of little English, European morals, and weak currencies...God bless the dollar and everyone...er...everything it can buy - when I get sent back to States to live with Aunt Grace - who is pretty cute in her own middle-aged, related by blood sort of way - in Dull City. Solomon, Massachusetts; why not just send me to Nome? Well, at least not everyone is a total loss. There is an Amazon-type - Samantha...ah, whatever...like last names matter - on the track team who looks like she could do some interesting things with her legs, given the right encouragement. And some of the guys on the soccer team are okay, including this Scottish kid who kicks some serious ass. I guess things could be worse...although, for the life of me, I can't see how. Well, at least I have Dad's wheels and some of the chicks aren't bad. Besides, given the obviously damaged gene pool most of these geeks came from, I should be running this place inside of a year."
Graham is a good student - A's and B's - and is fairly well-rounded in his interests and activities.
While he is new in town, he has made a fair number of "friends". However, he tends to view people as 'disposable', given his background and his future plans. While not unfriendly, he has taken to heart his father's last words before being dumped on his aunt's doorstep: "You get to spend two years with a town full of nobodies. Try not to let any of it rub off on you."
His parents have made it clear that they have very specific plans for his future, including going to West Point. Not surprisingly, he has overcompensated and is well on his way to being a grade-A arrogant ass.
When We Were Kids
Graham has spent most of his life going with his parents from one overseas assignment to the next, with some time spent in DC. He is currently in Solomon because his parents' latest assignment - Uzbekistan - takes them to a disintergrating USSR, something they did not want him exposed to.
Family
Graham's father, age 45, Alexander Diehl, is a veteran of ten years in the U.S. Army, followed by 17 years in the Foreign Service.
Graham's mother, age 40, Jennifer Hartman, has been an FSO for 18 years.
Aunt Grace, age 35, is his father's youngest sister. Her husband Tom died 3 years ago and left her a tidy sum of money, which she has used to open her own clothing store, Grace's Land
