--1.1 A Gathering of Slayers
Nicknames: Sam; Sammy Jane to her father.
Born: November 5, 1974, Solomon, Massachusetts.
Occupation: Frosh at Martense College; Vampire Slayer.
Activities: Saving the world is a full-time job. And then, there's her other job at the family garage. She races stock cars in her spare time.
Interests: The outdoors, fast cars, sculpting metal into inert dragons.
Vehicles: A dark blue Jeep Cherokee airbrushed with advertisements for the garage, and "Sam" and "Drew" painted over the appropriate doors;
the new Slayermobile, formerly a rainbow-hued Volkswagon Beetle owned by Kitty of the Satanic Kittens, now painted matte midnight blue, with new tags and registration;
a turquoise 1972 Dodge Charger that Sam and her father re-built and Erik painted with flames and swords; and
Another Jeep to which Samuel added armor plating and a machine-gun or crossbow mount on the roof.
Description
Sam stands six foot two inches tall, with short blond hair and blue eyes. She's athletic and muscular and, since she found her Calling (or it found her), she's much more confident and outgoing than she once was. With Tori's advice, Sam's updated her wardrobe, now owning more than one dress, and even wears makeup occasionally. Still, sunscreen and Chapstick are her basic routine, and she wears flannel shirts to work, just not all the time.
My So-Called Life
For most of Sam's life, she was the quiet one in the back of the classroom, trying to blend into the wallpaper. Then, she was Called to be Slayer, and everything changed. Excitement, danger, friends to share them with. A boyfriend. A Watcher. All these things turned her world upside-down. But Sam has persevered through demon goo and banishing ghosts, winning NASCAR races, and dusting vampires. She lives for the moment, enjoying what she can and powering through what she can't. She knows that one of these nights she's going to die. Some monster is going to kill her, but she's going to do her best to take it with her and leave a legacy that will make them take notice. Whoever, or whatever "they" might be.
Oh, and there's that Slayer thing. And the dreams...
When We Were Kids
Sam's lived in Solomon her whole life. She's pretty much always been quiet.
Family
Samantha's father, Samuel, is a mechanic. Since Sam turned 18, he's made her partner in Kessler's Auto Body Shop. It's the town's oldest garage, and still not in the nicest neighborhood, but thanks to a timely influx of gremlins, Samantha's marketing stunts (why else would she run for Snow Queen?) and Samuel's joining AA, the business is flourishing. Sam's mother, Irene, died of cancer when Samantha was five years old. Samuel never remarried, but he has been spending quite a bit of time with Marilyn Clark of late.
