1. The Berlin Wall
Proves that when people work together, the bad guys do lose, eventually. All it takes is determination and coordination.

2. Martin Luther King's Speech
We all know the one. The Civil Rights movement was a demonstration that all human beings deserve fair treatment and to be protected.

3. The advent of mass air travel
Allows ordinary people to travel further and come into direct contact with other cultures, thus, in theory, helping them to understand one another better. Increases an individual's boundaries.

4. Oral contraceptives
Gives women the right to take control of their own sexuality and begins a move towards an end to the double standard of male 'studs' and female 'sluts'.

5. The assassination of John F. Kennedy
For good, for bad, it touched everyone and united the country in grief. It also showed that nothing is ever entirely stable.
